{"id":2087,"date":"2026-09-14T07:57:03","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T07:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/simoninstitute.ch\/?post_type=member&#038;p=2087"},"modified":"2026-09-14T07:59:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T07:59:13","slug":"helia-samani","status":"publish","type":"member","link":"https:\/\/simoninstitute.ch\/about\/member\/helia-samani","title":{"rendered":"Helia Samani"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Helia Samani is an AIxBio Policy Advisor at the Simon Institute for Longterm Governance (SI), working on biosecurity policy and international cooperation to reduce biological risks from advanced AI.<\/p>\n<p>Previously at the <span draggable=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nti.org\/area\/biological\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nuclear Threat Initiative<\/a><\/span>, Helia helped establish and led an <span draggable=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nti.org\/news\/nti-concordia-ai-launch-international-working-group-to-improve-biological-capability-evaluations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">international working group<\/a><\/span> to develop shared approaches to comparing and interpreting biological capability evaluations of AI systems. She also supported U.S.-China Track II biosecurity dialogues and led the development of a biosafety and biosecurity review framework for AI-enabled biological design, engineering, and automation.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, as a Policy Fellow at the <span draggable=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biotech.senate.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology<\/a><\/span>, she conducted research and analysis on biosecurity oversight, biomanufacturing, and supply-chain resilience.
